Extra material on first layer. Solutions? (Photo included)

Postby h4344 » 2016-Jan-Mon-15-Jan

Getting a little extra material on the first layers of my print. They still print fine but I wanna see if this is fixable. Any ideas on how to reduce it? Seems to not have the problem after about 3 layers where it smoothes out.

Nozzle slightly low? Perhaps combined with slight over-extrusion?

Perhaps try a different slicer with a different solid fill pattern (e.g. Slic3r has a concentric pattern).

100% agree on both, the effect is known as "bulldozing" where the nozzle being too low pushes around the excess plastic.

You're either over-extruding or the z-axis isn't calibrated close enough. Measure the height and width of a single line like on your skirt, change the extrusion multiplier to compensate for the difference in volume from expected.
