My PrintrBot Jr w/ Heated PCB

Postby danimal1228 » 2012-Dec-Sun-20-Dec

Here is my PrintrBot Jr. with Makerfarm Heated PCB. I am using it to print out parts for a PB Original that I plan to build. So far I can't complain. There is a little bit of a steep learning curve but once you start playing with the settings it all comes together.

Can't believe I haven't seen this - Amazing work. Where did you get your LC files? Sounds cool. Also did you use the PB powersupply, or did you use another? Is this the one you used?: http://www.makerfarm.com/index.php/6x6-heat-bed.html . Great work!

Also, how did you attach it to the PB Jr?

My jr came with the big atx power supply. It has plenty of juice to power the 6x6 heated bed. The bed plugs into the printrboard along with the temp sensor. I attached it to the pbjr bed using a homemade adapter. It's a Walmart cutting board that I cut on a small cnc mill. You could just take a piece of wood and drill the appropriate holes to make it work.

Is that the same thing as on thingiverse? How long did it take you to assemble this?

Is there anything printable that I can use to mount it?

I don't believe the files for the bed mount are on tverse. It was a one off part that I think I designed in 5 min and didnt save it. The fan mounts and rod cap are on tverse though.

I'm not sure that I would print parts to hold the heated bed. They would probably melt. Doesn't brook offer a heated bed upgrade for the jr?

Could you just tape the heated platform on to the pbjr - is there an easier way to do this
thanks in advance

A little planning and taking the time to do it right will pay off. You "could" tape the heated bed to the carriage but if it slips (even a mm) your print will be off. I've learned it's easier to do it right the first time then to spend hours fixing it later.

I'm sure you could design something :)

The only problem with printing something to hold the heated bed is the temp that it will be exposed to.
