Printrbot map of the earth

Postby plexus » 2012-Dec-Tue-22-Dec

I thought this might be interesting... i created a map where we can put a pin for ourselves and our printers. if you pin yourself you can do it as locally as you want. so if you just want it to be near where you live just drop it in the neighbourhood somewhere. i used my forum name for my login. and then for the name of the pin i suggested the format: forum username, printer type (eg. original, PB+, PBjr, etc). it might be cool to use the colour coding for the printer type. so if you don't mind selecting the right colour from the below that will help to view the Printrbot World Population.

http://www.pinmaps.net/map/12550/plexus/

dot-blue - PBO - original (printed parts)
dot-orange - PB - 6x6 laser cut
dot-red - PB+ - 8x8 laser cut
dot-pink - PBjr - junior
dot-green - PBGo - Go

How about a phpbb map plugin, thus elimiating the requirement to sign up there?

Neat map. Since you didn't have Printrbot Simple listed in the color legend above, I added mine as a yellow pin for anyone who might like to follow suit and is trying to pick a color.

Good idea. The next step for you is now, logically, to create a transgalactic map of PB owners. And as soon as the first trade contacts to alien intelligences have been established and Printrbots have been sold to them, your transgalactic map will fill with pins, too.

By the way, I am the first Caribbean, it seems (despite that I am originally from Germany).

PROBLEM: no more new pins can be added as your map contains already over 30 pins. Alas...
If you can, add a pink pin for "Musgrave Avenue, Kingston, Jamaica". Thanks.

Well, it looks like we'll deprecate the map. pinmaps at the time it was set up was free and there was no limit. last i saw there were around 90 pins. now they are charging for it. its not worth it especially since PBHQ has their own printrbot owners map which is more comprehensive. although their doesn't indicate specific users. so i'll go ahead and kill the pinmap and links of the forum so there is no confusion.

I agree with that. That is a trick of those companies: first offering it for free, then starting to collect fees and hoping that the users have invested so much effort in it that they will continue and agree to be milked for money.

I tried to add my location, and I couldn't "create map", so I gave up.... too bad.

PBplus V2 kit.
* Modded power supply (my own)
* heavier power cable (#12) and connector (Cinch-Jones 2 pin) as 4 pin ATX was getting hot!
* extruder and heated bed indicators on bot.. I like to know
* cable dressing using ideas from other members and my own
* machined Z axis couplers.. my own design
* filament guide tubing (drip sprinkler tubing).. keeps filament from possible tangling
* flat washers under ALL screw heads.. spreads out force over wood
* Al machined printbed, opto limit switches on ALL axis, Acme Z lead screws
* Highly modified printbed/stiffened
* Dual Z axis limit switches (selectable) for glass or aluminum bed
* Illuminated extruder with 2 white leds
* NOW with AUTOLEVEL!!!!
* RAMPS board with graphic display
