Huge CoreXY (400mmx400mmx200mm)

Hey everyone!

So with my Thingybot Kickstarter getting funded I needed to have a printer to print large batches of parts.

I decided to go with a CoreXY design just because and I used 15mm Openbeam extrusions for the frame.

There is the printer. Still doesn't have an official name, it uses a RAMPS board with a full graphic display. It features an E3D v6 (soon to be Volcano) and a massive 400mmx400mmx200mm build volume. Obviously that is not for one large object as it would be a waste and probably destroy the printer. But for a lot of little things it works well.

Still to do - enclose it and have an exhaust port going out of the window behind the machine for ABS, and of course add heated beds. But the machine is fully functional!

If anyone wants the design files or more information let me know!

Very cool looking, how does it print?

Very impressive! Both the Thingybot & that 400mm beast.

Still doesn't have an official name,

I suggest "The Goliath"

I haven't done too much on it yet, but I did do a batch of 60 key chains for a local business. It was wonderful being able to just start one print and finish a job. They came out good, but it's nothing super high res. Though that's not what this design was for. The Thingybot parts that it will print don't need to be high res!

Thank you! I love the name! I'll have to print up a nameplate and mount it on the front. I left a few extra nuts in the Openbeam for that purpose!

I like the Goliath as well! Congrats on the Thingybot success. Looks like a solid printer, just need to convince myself I need another bot to fiddle with. Deltas being that much more fiddly and all.

Thank you!

Deltas aren't as difficult as they seem, designing one is kind of difficult but using it is only a bit harder than a standard Cartesian printer!
