This printer - currently on Kickstarter (October 2013) uses a photopolymerized resin, and a laser beam to solidify the resin. The laser is directed by mirrors that are driven off the computer's sound card. The z axis is controlled by dripping water into a reservoir; the liquid resin floats on the water. Fascinating.
