The DXF is a 2-D file; you need to use a CAD program of some type to "extrude" it into a 3-D part and then make it into an STL. And BTW, the original DXF that you put in your PM had a couple of errors - but I recognized the drawing and was able to fix them easily. If in the future you think you may want to create more STL files from DXF then I suggest you look for a free CAD program. For one example out of many, Onshape is a browser-based package that's free for home use, with up to 10 private documents or unlimited public documents.

One thing that I had noticed about the original plywood feet is that they were a bit flexible in the machine's X direction. When there was some small infill being created that involved lots of short motions of the extruder in the X direction, I could see the feet bending, allowing the whole machine to vibrate. So I designed and printed replacement feet, and I've included the STL file for them as well as the original feet here, so take your choice. In either case, print them at 100% infill.

Brass threaded rods (5/16" X 18) & nuts for Z axis
GT2 belts & pulleys
Cable chain to reduce probability of fatigue failure in wires
E3D V5 Hot End, 0.4mm nozzle, also 0.8 and 0.25 in use occasionally
PB fan mount + 40mm fan -- using printed mount adapter, not the E3D supplied fan
Injection molded extruder gears
Optical Z "endstop" (custom designed and built)
Have used many pounds of T-Glase filament. Now also doing some work with Ninjaflex SemiFlex

To extend RJ's CAD comments a bit, there's several free (both open and closed source) CAD programs you might want to look into, since they'll become handy in the future. Solvespace is on my to-check-out list, FreeCAD is getting better, Fusion360 (free for hobbyists) is an often recommended choice as is Design CAD 3D. There's some online programs that work through your web browser (TinkerCAD, for example, where I made my first ever 3D design).

Most CAD programs have a steep learning curve, so expect to spend some time. Of course, this moose started with non-computer aided drawing using natural organic devices (paper, pencil, basswood portable drawing board, masking tape, etc) with some oil derived accessories like plastic triangles and finds this new-fangled CAD stuff somewhat daunting. I mostly use openSCAD (which will also extrude DXFs), but then again I'm a programmer.

Thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated. I do use SolidWorks 2010. I know it's a bit dated but it works for what I need it for. I'm still a novice but can usually get through simple geometric designs. Maybe it was the error in the original DXF but Solidworks refused to import the file as a 2D file.

Thanks again!
