Need a part laser cut or CNC'd or dxf converted to stl

Postby accuprintr » 2016-Jan-Fri-10-Jan

I need a replacement part for Printrbot Jr. v2 and was wondering if someone could laser cut, CNC or convert Printrbot dxf to STL so I can print the part. I tried to convert DXF to STL myself, but I am unable to open the STL file in CUra or Repetier host. I am getting error messages. The dxf file is located here: http://printrbot.com/2014/03/17/printrb ... ommercial/.

Thank you for your help.

The DXF file you linked is a 2D drawing of the laser cutting pattern to create ALL the plywood pieces of a Junior.

I have imported the DXF file into my CAD system's Drawing package, and from there I can copy-and-paste parts into the Part package to make 3D objects. Once I have 3D Parts, I can easily create STL's. So which part(s) do you need? There must be a couple of dozen parts, and I'm sure you don't want them all in one single huge STL file.

Here is the part you wanted in STL format. I extruded it to 6mm thick; if that's not correct, I can easily change the thickness to whatever you want.

The CAD program I'm using is Geomagic Design. It's much less expensive than SolidWorks, but much more expensive than free. I'm using a paid program because this is more than a hobby for me.

Jay, can you extrude a part to 7mm? Thank you very much for doing this. I tried a couple of freeware and open source programs and they don't work very well.

upnxrawk, how much would you charge for the laser cut part? Can you cut 7mm thick acrylic?

If you can find a place that sells 7mm acrylic then it shouldn't be a problem cutting it. I cut 5mm acrylic all the time. I'd have to actually see how large the piece is bit I'm sure out wouldn't cost more than $20 shipped in the US if you can supply the acrylic
