I need hot end insulation tube.

I'm being cheap and don't want to spend $15 for tubing I can buy for a couple bucks at McMaster.

But then again, I dunt want to order enough stuff from McMaster to get past their minimum order.

Does anyone have any extra that they'd sell for a few dollars?

I think he wants the red insulation stuff, not PTFE tube. I recall reading that this stuff is available from auto parts stores as pipe insulation?

It is available at some auto stores. It's called fire sleeve and you can find it on ebay too. I will say that whatever version printrbot uses is a little nicer and harder to find.

Or you could join the few and proud and get black instead of red...

Sources for the sleeve (sometimes called a sock here) have been discussed in the past. Use the forum search (upper right corner of the page in a desktop browser) to find them.

A toeless sock? I call it a "nozzle cozy."

Saying it's sometimes called a sock isn't acquiescing, just helping with searching for misnomers.

Not sure about nozzle cozy, need to ruminate on that for a while

What diameter is the sock?

I'll check with the local shops and see what I can find

I measure my red sleeve at 3/4" ID (within a thou), and a 64th over that OD. The frenchified numbers didn't come out even so PB probably english measurement based products.

Now that's after 4+ years of use, might have accidentally stretched from metric to english sizes. It's stuck on (didn't heat up the extruder) so I can't measure it flat.

Here's your chance to start a new color trend!

Here is a link for some I ordered off of Ebay. It's not Bright red.. kind of a brick red, but it works, I think I saw blue on there also, check sellers other items if you want blue.

Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-2-12MM-FIRE-S ... 4d1d0fb8de
