Did you try it? Did it work?

I've been experimenting with hot glue inside heatshrink for wire splices, after an unfortunate encounter between my 100' 12 gauge cord and the lawn mower. It's how Woods Hole protects their splices down to 5000m, so it should be good enough for a slightly shorter cord left out in the rain. So far, the smoke's staying in the wires, nobody's hair is standing on end, and the deer are staying out of the garden (the cord's to an electric fence charger; yes 12ga is overkill but it's what I had...)
