First couple of "Things"

Postby MichEngin08 » 2014-Feb-Fri-23-Feb

I have slowly assembled a new PB Jr v2 this week in my spare time and today I finally got to do some printing. My first attempt, I simply had the nozzle to close to the print bed. Print 2 began excellent and started squishing the layers. I investigated the Z axis and discover the "z wobble" phenomenon and did some adjustments to help remedy it. My third print looked great!!! I also printed the 5mm cube test. It was excellent until the top 2 layers. Perhaps i had the print speed to quick for it. I printed a few other things and I still have some kinks to work out but overall I'm extremely pleased with my initial results!

Let me know if you may have some quick tips that might help me out.

Thanks!

Do you have the fan turned on? If you watch while it is printing that top cube you will see that it looks "rubbery" while it is printing. It needs to cool a bit more before successive layers are added.

Yes, the fan is on. I kind of think it was printing too quickly for the last couple of layers. I don't know how to slow it down though. I've been printing PLA at about 195°C

In Repetier, you can adjust the speed on the fly to as low as 25% of the speed you set in Slic3r. You can tweak extrusion flow rate, too.

Very cool.

Is that in the manual control section while it's running? I didn't realize you could override settings while it was printing. Thanks for the tip!
