Very first print from my Printrbot Simple

Postby hernan43 » 2013-Sep-Tue-19-Sep

I got my Printrbot Simple yesterday and finished it this afternoon. I ran through the calibration/setup guide on this forum. I wasn't sure which settings to use in Slicr so I picked most of the defaults if I wasn't sure what it should be set to. I did set my filament and bed size to the correct settings inside of Slicr.

I am actually pretty impressed Mr. Jaws came out as well as he did. I've never done this before and this was my very first print. I've been reading the forums for a couple of weeks now and have been reading up on the various mods and advice regarding the Simple.

When I went to extract the print the first few layers stuck to the bed and broke off of the model. The layers are mostly adhereing to each other but the model over all feels pretty weak. If I squeeze the model you can feel some of the layers sort of crunching together. I think maybe I am under extruding but I am not certain.

At any rate, I am happy with this first print. I know that once I dial it in it will get a lot better.

Yes, good start. Clearly your X, Y, and Z are within the ballpark of what you need to get started.
But the extrusion rate looks very low. So that's the first place I'd recommend you start. The Getting Started guide might not give you the complete info on how to do it, but there is an older Getting Started guide that is linked to from the new one. Also, the post by bradleyc is very helpful, see this post: viewtopic.php?f=105&t=4454

So I originally used the guide you linked up. It turns out, I had not set my extruder profile inside of Slic3r. Once I did that my print came out waaaay better. I was messing around with the filament and it stopped extruding about halfway through. Other than that it looks great.

This is one of my first prints, but I am having a similar problem as you did.. I have configured the slicer but perhaps my settings are off. What did you do?
