Do I need a special account to make a Wiki page?

Postby orangefurball » 2015-Jan-Wed-05-Jan

Hello!

In my other thread discussing my printer design, Thawkins suggested I make a Wiki page when I post the design to keep all of info (BOM, parts, instructions, firmware, etc.) in one place.

Only thing is I don't know if I need a special account, and if its even possible I get one.

Thanks!

Yes, authorship on the Wiki is restricted, to prevent spam. But you can get authorized easily; just send a PM to Plexus.

If he cant set you up there, i will set you up with a wiki editors account on http://microfabricator.com

I recently finished writting a wiki tool for it and it would be good to have somebody else testing it.

He asked me for my email and name yesterday, so hopefully he will set me up soon.

I'll let you know though, I'd love to test it out for you.

I'll warn you right now... if you haven't done Wiki articles before, the syntax is not at all like making postings here on the forum. I guess it's a relative of (or subset of?) HTML. So a lot of things will be non-intuitive, like formatting with indentation, italics or bold text, headers versus body text, links, etc. etc.

I unfortunately know this :(

I was asked to make a Wiki page for my friend that is a country singer, and I was pretty overwhelmed to say the least. That's why I'd like to get started as soon as my account is authorized, it'll take some time to make it!
