Im working on a new design of a printer, which is more than 90% printed, would that qualify?. I could submit a photo of my current working model.

The other parts added are screws, some steel tube, and motors etc. But it is mostly printed, far more so than a reprap. The main chassis is pribted so its not just a collection of rods joined together with bits of plastic. I designed it to be made out of simple parts that can be purchased here in the philippines, without having import items from abroad (5 week wait, 30% customs tax). Currently only the hotend and the electronics board have to be imported, but im looking to change even that. I would love to submit it to the competition. I intend to offer the design to local schools and colleges as an open source design, so they can create thier own.

I would love to submit it to the competition, as i have been slaving away on the design for months.

I've always thought threadless ballscrews were pretty neat but I personally haven't seen much in the way of practicality. It would be great if someone came up with a design that functioned exactly like the theoretical version.
Have you seen the design on thingiverse that is very similar in basic layout, I think it's called the smartrap or something like that.

Don't forget that gravity is a good thing to avoid any backlash in a vertical mounted leadscrew. I've never experienced any problem in the z axis. I am using an 8mm leascrew in my pb+. For some reason here is much cheaper and easier to get a threaded rod than a smmoth one. In fact. All the smooth rods in my printer were sourced from old nonworking 2d printers.

Nice guitar holder, rick! I have a small music studio so I appreciate this. and also because I want to make a hanger for 4 canoe paddles and this might work for them if I could scale it down. care to share the model? no problem if you don't.
