False positives on URL recognition for new posters

Postby kjetilv » 2013-Oct-Sun-03-Oct

Hi
I tried posting a slic3r config file today, but got told that the file looked too spamy since it contained URL's.
After looking through the entire config I could not see anything even remotely looking like a URL, not a single slash, and only one dot.
Maybe someone could take a look at the antispam regexp's and see what's wrong? It could of course also be that the error message is wrong and hits on something else.
As a new user it's a bit frustrating to not be able to ask for help properly because you are not allowed to post config files.

Try to zip, and then attach the file, rather than trying to put it into your post.

We're deluged with spammers, and delete and ban them nearly every day. The link restrictions help, but I agree they're a nuisance for honest people.

I also came here to post about how frustrating it is to not be able to post URLs. I'm trying to contribute helpful information, but it keeps blocking my posts. :x

You can after I think 10 or 20 posts...I forget how much...

Just attach the files zipped for now and post some positive "attaboys" everywhere you can :) (along with the "I'm goosing my post count" caveat).

Hey. Blame it on the spammers. Before we instituted these anti-spam measures, we were spending a lot of time dealing with spammers and spam posts. Now, we basically don't spend any significant time managing spam. Yes, it limits the use of the forum for your first few posts, but over-all it provides a better experience for everyone. Please try and put up with the limitations and continue to blame the spammers because they are the ones that ruin it for the rest of us.
