Is there a way to mark all posts as read so that when I come on and look for "unread posts" there are not 19 plus pages?

yes. if you go to the main page by clicking the printrbot logo over on the right in text above the forum list it will say "Mark forums read" this will mark all forums as read and you will see none in the Unread posts list.
