USD $12/kg quality filament?

Postby Mooselake » 2016-Jul-Wed-17-Jul

From this recent article on Fabbaloo. 12 (US) bucks, 11 euros.

However it's in the Czech Republic (where daughter #1 lived for a year) and I couldn't actually find filament listed in their shop. Shipping probably prohibitive for those of us in the states, but likely not on the eastern side of the pond.

Reportedly a reputable supplier using quality pellets, but no way for me to verify. Worth a look for somebody closer to the source. Besides this subforum needed a recent post, and it is an online supplier...

Direct link to the only info about 3D printing filament from their site.

Strange. Like Moose said, nothing in the shop for it. The only info I can find on google are some tiny write-ups from the smaller 3D printing news sites. $12 is basically the wholesale cost direct from manufacturers for a KG of filament, at least in my experience and talking to some other buyers.

I paid less than that for 5kg from repraper.com (now reprapper.com) back in 2012, although the shipping from China cost as much as the filament. Still have some of it, although it's 3mm.. When I start thingybotting the 3mm Wades will go back on the Printrbot and the reprap(p)er filament (which is good stuff) will go back on the spool holder.

Wow that takes me back. My first roll of filament was from them. Translucent PLA, 1.75mm 1KG. Paid $18 for it from eBay. I thought it would last me months but I went through it in a week.

You can always mod your Thingybot to be 3mm!

Oh! That link to reprapper isn't right. It's actually http://www.reprappertech.com/

Foxsmart is now down to $16/kg. Their stuff is pretty good, and ships from the USA.
