There are quite a few differences. The v2 only has 1 stock aluminum block for the z axis smooth rods where the 2.1 has all aluminum bearing blocks. The new plus also has built in LCD. The new one has a few design changes but nothing major. The carriage is different between the two, the newest one also has a little bit wider x axis to allow space for dual extruders. It also comes stock with acme rods, GT2 belts and pulleys where the v2 has MXL belts and molded pulleys.

I have a plus v2 with a v2.1 carriage that has dual extruders. I have also upgraded a lot of my bearing blocks to aluminum. The v 2.1 has more bang for the buck but you can easily upgrade a v2 to match or surpass a stock v2.1. Here's mine, I have extended the y and z axis's to about 17 inches vs their stock less than 13 inch travel.

Either way, I think you would be in good shape. They both have different things going for them as well as new vs used. You can always use your Jr. To make a bigger printer or mod it to fit your needs.

He's buying a used one I believe. Unless someone is selling new plus V2's. If you didn't get a bed with your setup I would recommend getting a SSR or solid state relay. You can find them on eBay for pretty cheap if you look for a deal. Make sure if you get a heated bed on eBay that it comes with a thermistor and a resister pre soldered. Unless you want to do it yourself. I've run across a lot of people that didn't check if it was a part of it and were rather shocked when one was included.

If you have any questions or need help with your plus once you get it, lemme know.

So, I got the printer, and it works... more or less... one of the Z-Axis motors arrived broken. It is not rotating at the same speed as the one on the left, it gets jammed half way through some turns. I have ordered a replacement. I feel like I have learnt alot already trying to figure out the source of the problem such as Z-axis calibration and heating. I have more to learn! Exciting

Mine doesn't rotate the same speed as the left either. I thought it was normal because it still prints ok. Thought maybe the two rods were not the same and the pitch was different or something. I never investigated. I'm still a beginner, so the prints look ok to me.

I was getting jammed as well. I found that the threaded rod on the right was not touching the bottom black sleeve that touches the motor. After a lot of adjustment, it still doesn't turn at the same speed but it no longer jams when going up or down.

Pictured is all of the adjustments I had to do so far. I bought an assembled unit.

Purple is where the threaded rod did not touch the motor below.
Green is where I placed a small wood shim to level the entire unit.
Yellow is where I screwed down the bed a little more so the nozzle will not touch the bed too much on the right side.

I'll try to upload some photos of prints when I get home.

I did further test on the threaded rod spinning. I placed a flag on the top of the two rods, they spin at the same time. Only the block with the purple box around it spins faster on the left side. One side needs some sort of adjustment.

I still need more tweaking to do.

If you lift the carriage off the supporting nuts, and turn each of the threaded rods by hand (power off, of course), do they feel the same?

I replaced my motor, and it worked fine. I am very happy with the purchase over all. Still learning and tweaking.
