How can I get a Printrbox for the Plus?

Who the heck do I give my money to??

(A better title would be: I want an OFFICIAL PRINTRBOX for the PLUS)

The obvious answer is PBHQ? But what is your goal in getting one? Better looks? Aggregated packaging? Aiming for Better print quality by *enclosing* the workspace? If the latter is your goal, consider it carefully.

Since Brook has repeatedly said that PB is a fully open source company, you can just ask at info@printrbot.com for a DXF of the file for the PrintrBox, and have it cut locally. I'd have thought that file or files would be posted on their website and thingiverse by now!
Right next to the Ubis hot end details ;)

Perhaps my cynical words were not understood in my first post. (edited to remove snarkiness - Wyatt)

I want an official printrbox for the plus. (in other words, a 'printrbox made by anybody but Brook would not be a Printrbox', but rather a box for my printrbot)

That truly would be awesome, if I had a lasercutter. Since I don't, I really would love an official Printxbox. Who do I bribe?

I have no idea why Brook won't make one for sale.

I need the box to provide the framework to snap on my open source HEPA-filtered forced-air fume extraction system.

True that.

I need a box in order for my fume extraction system to work. The bot already looks like a science project, without me jerry-rigging something around it that Brook did not make.

Arrgh!

open source HEPA-filtered forced-air fume extraction system

Moltenplastic,

any details on that? Where can i find it so that i can build it ....

Ah yeah ... is it already there or do you need the box to design it ... hen and egg ...

Yes. AIRC, he said something about making it available both plain and painted by the same guy who did the top-level rewards painting in either KS Update 28 or 29.

HEPA does not remove gaseous fumes only particulates. High Efficiency Particulate Air filter

You are correct.

Hepa is for the particulate. The carcinogenic smell of ABS (or overly sweet smell of pla) will be removed via a water chamber that is aerated by the output of the extractor.

The Printrbox is my egg, of sorts. In order to make a good system, I need a foundation to hang it on.

The fume extrraction system will be fully realized on Thingiverse once I have finished the way it attaches to the print area.

My Prusa mendel is deceased, so I am left unable to tinker with my project, but I would say that it is about 80% complete and that it completely removes PLA stinky sweet smell and ABS fumes.

(I made a cardboard Printrbox and made the windows out of sheet plastic. I was able to connect my air intake to this box and am able to successfully test fume extraction and removal.)

I'm only 2 weeks into my 4-6 weeks waiting for my new printrbot, so it might be a bit before I can finish.

If I can get a Plus' Printrbox before then, I can at least design what I need to make and be that much closer to releasing the system.

If Brook has Printrbox PLUS plans, I could move forward.......

Talking with him a couple of weeks ago, I seem to recall that he doesn't have a box for the plus designed yet. You probably wouldn't want to use the Printrbot for a fume extraction setup since the bed isn't totally in the box while printing. The box was mainly designed for showcase and storage. If you designed one, I could probably go over to PBHQ and cut it out for you if you'd like.

That would be great! And super simple if we actually had access to the current PrintrBox AI or DXF file as a starting point! That's the beauty of open source hardware! The community can add value to the product offerings.

Hey folks,

any news on that item? What's the air extraction system doing? Has anyone found the CAD Files for the printrbox?
