(SOLD) Printrbot Simple 1405 12x8x12 Upgrade kit

Postby slovenian6474 » 2015-May-Thu-09-May

All kits are sold. Thanks.

I recently sourced all the parts needed to do my own JL upgrade on my 1405 Printrbot Simple. After completing it, I wished there was just a kit I could buy with all the parts instead of having to buy whole boxes of screws, single aluminum bed, and finding the right rods and acme screw. Looking into it, I found I could source a small batch of kits that I could sell for LESS than it cost me to upgrade mine. So I present the JL Upgrade kit!

Full set of pictures here http://imgur.com/a/FTdbU

This is an upgrade kit for your Printrbot Simple Maker Edition 1405. It comes with the hardware needed to upgrade to Jon Lawrence's extended Y axis http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:372467 and his extended X http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:383713. The idea is you can get all the rods, acme screw, bed, nuts and bolt. All you have to do is print your own parts from him bill of material. Since there are 3 parts in the X axis upgrade that you CANNOT print on the stock 4x4x4 print area, I have printed those and will include them in the kit.
The Kit includes:
4x 8mm Smooth Rods 495mm
2x 8mm Smooth Rods 406mm
1x Acme screw 450mm
1x 14.5x9 (12x8 buildable) Aluminum Bed
1x 3D Printed Black Bearing Plate
2x 3D Printed Black Beefier Bed rails (the stock arms did not seem strong enough) http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:520696
7x 607 Bearings for double or single precision setup, your choice.
1x X-axis endtop extension cable
2x rocker switches to wire up on/off or fans
2x 2m long GT2 belts
All nuts, bolts, zipties, and a bag of spares.
Price is $135 (was $150) +$20 shipping in the lower 48 states. Contact me for shipping outside of that area.
I currently have 3 kits ready to ship and 2 more that should be ready soon!
There is an option to have me print the whole BOM for JL's X & Y upgrade for an additional $25. This will take a little longer to ship as they'll be printed upon ordering.
Message me if interest.
Note: I have one kit with glow-in-the-dark 3D printed bed rails and motor bearing plate. I consider it the special edition.

I think that's a fantastic idea. So the kit has 3 of the larger print parts. Do the rest of the required parts print easy on the standard Simple 1405 4"x4" print area?

My only concern really is whether or not the motors would have any difficulty with the additional mass of the new table. Have you seen any vibration or wobbling issues or say motor "stickiness" from the upgrade?

You got it! The rest of the parts can fit on the stock 4"x4" print area. The Y-X carriage piece is big and you can't use a skirt, but it will fit in the stock print area. All the rest easily fit.

I'm running my setup with double precision so the motors turn twice as much to move the same dimensional amount. They don't seem to have any issue doing this. I haven't tested a single precision setup (which would be more apples to apples to a stock setup).

It's 1/4"-16 and 1/16" travel distance per turn.
