Hi all,
Busy weekend.
Worked out these brackets and hold downs for this cheap Chinese hot air de soldering station I use at the apartment.
The problem is with the supplied holder for the iron.
It's all light weight materials and tends to slide around on the bench.
Trying to locate a soldering iron holder that is wandering around the bench is a good way to scorch things in the path.
The prior fix was double stick tape and some velcro.
Not the best.
Worked out this system.
The brackets snap into the semi round depressions on the side of the control box.
It's as strong as it needs to be.
This will not move around, and holds the iron holder firmly in one place.

Then the front caps, (the parts held on with the hex screws and washers) to keep the holder from drifting front to back.

Couple of notes worth talking about.
These tools are brought in under a bunch of different names and revisions.
Amazon, Ebay, all the usual vendors. Some might even be knocks off's of knock off's. Hard to tell.
The metal control box cases seem to be all the same, but the soldering iron holders seem to be of two different types depending on vintage.
This design works on the injection molded plastic soldering iron holders.
It won't work on the punched and folded steel ones.
The design is adaptable, just so no reason to do it this go round.

Real pleased how this came out.
Going to make up a second one for the hot air tool at work I use.
Be well there.
