Posting a fully assembled Plus v2 (dimensions and weight?)

Postby CrawlB4uBall » 2013-Aug-Sat-21-Aug

Hey guys, has anyone shipped a fully assembled Printrbot Plus v2 to Australia? I want to get one, but Printrbot don't support shipping here according to the checkout system. I can get the package forwarded through on of the forwarding companies in the state now worries, just need an idea on the dimensions of the packaging to estimate the cost. Any help I could get would be appreciated!

Hi, I bought a fully assembled one over about 3 months ago - cost about $180.00 USD at the time for the quickest shipping available but there were slower cheaper options. It turned up perfectly (bridge was a little out of kilter but easy to fix). I had the same issue getting their ordering system to accept Australia. I ended up having to email them and get them to manually do the order. David at Printrbot was great and made it all happen. Box was about twice the dimensions of the printrbot itself - a fair bit of bubble wrap to keep it safe.

So I highly recommend it and it can be done.

Darqueone, I ended up ordering one today but redirecting through a forwarding company in the states. The website must have been fixed but the shipping was $370US to ship which is kinda outrageous.

Seriously can't wait to get it home!

Ow that is a pretty steep increase.
Definitely worth the wait though, mine hasn't stopped since I got it. Tip for you - the US guys all talk about hairspray for the print bed - I couldn't find the brand they talk about but Cedel extra firm from Woollies works a treat.

Have fun - it's both frustrating and a ton of fun. Worked well straight away but getting the fine tuning done is a challenge.

cheers

Everything I've watched and read points to a great quality product that required a lot of tuning\adjustment or minor upgrades. I do a fair but of RC flying with quads and planes... I know that feel. Thanks so much for the heads up with the hair spray. I'll keep it in mind.

Can't wait to bounce ideas and problems of everyone. It'll be my first 3D printer or machine of sorts.
