micro sd to sd card extension

Hi,

I have been looking at a way to print without my computer tethered to the printer. I know you can buy the lcd, but I wanted to try the micro sd slot, but it is very inconvenient to get to. I seen an extension cable that plugs into the micro sd slot on the printer and allows you to plug in a standard sd card in the other end. Is there a certain sd card that you have to use ie. 2 GB or will a 32GB or 64GB work, and do I have to format the card to fat32 or some other format ?? I understand I have to put the file in the root directory and name it auto0.gcode. Thanks for the help.

Thanks thawkins. When you say reset the board, are you referring to the little black push button on the board, and do I reset it with the power on. I am not sure what you mean when you say powercycle it. If I turned the power supply off after the print finished would this make Marlin reset so I could use auto0.gcode on the next print or would I still have to push the black button to reset the board, if that is the reset switch ( I am assuming it is). Thanks for your patience for a newbie.

Thanks orangefurball, I have some sd cards laying around for my digital camera, they vary from 2 GB to 4 GB to 16 GB. I think I will wait until my micro sd to sd extension comes in that I ordered and go from there, but still not sure about the reset of the board after printing that thawkins mentioned earlier.
