I bought a used Simple Metal with heated bed. It came with an ATX style power supply.
The machine has the Rev. F Printrboard with a 6-pin connector from the board to a female 6-pin connector (with wires about a foot long), so that the ATX power supply can be easily connected/disconnected.
I want to be able to power the machine with a laptop-style 12V 6A brick for when I'm taking the printer around for classroom demos (I won't be using the heated bed when powered this way), since it is much smaller, thus easier to pack.
What I want/need is either:
a. a 6-Pin to "laptop brick connector" (barrel jack? I'm not sure of the right name) cord that is short and I could connect directly to the Printrboard.
b. an adapter from the 6-Pin connector (suitable for an ATX supply to plug into) to the laptop 'barrel jack', that would connect to my cord outside the machine
Do either of these things exist? I don't know what search terms to use to find one.
If not, any hints on how to make one? Connector names, wire gauges, words of encouragement, etc.
I feel like the connector I want was probably shipped with RevF machines without heated beds, but I sure don't know how to get one!
thanks.
