Postby virustwin » 2016-Dec-Mon-07-Dec

Hey guys. i hardly know anything about electronics and i did a search on the forum here but im not sure if this is possible. can i use a 24v 12a brushless dc blower fan on my printrboard of the simple metal? i dont want to blow the board shince it was replaced not too long ago and i got my hands on these fans to upgrade the cooling system http://www.gearbest.com/3d-printer-parts/pp_540285.html. would i be able to use it or do i need to order a 12v fan?

thanks

You need a 12v fan, and the Printrboard cannot supply 12A, or even 6 if you try to run it at half speed. It'll let the magic smoke out.

However, now that I looked at the description that's a 0.12a (aka 120 milliamp (ma)) fan, so you're close. You can find those in 12v so don't mess around with the wrong voltage.

I use a similar higher airflow 40mm blower fan that I found on eBay hot glued to my plywood carriage

I hadn't even noticed that it was 0.12a. i did find that 12a for a basic fan like that was a bit much. ok, i get what youre saying and i wont take the chance. ill order some 12 v fans from ebay. thanks so much for the quick help mooselake!
