I am a librarian in Florida and my library has a Printrbot Metal Plus with a hot end issue. I was hoping this forum might be able to help. Here's the problem...

We bought the printer new in late 2016. It came with a ceramic hot end. It stopped working (won't get hot) and I have been unable to fix it. I also have a Simple Pro that we don't use, so I was hoping to replace the Plus' hot end with the Simple's hot end, which I believe is a Ubis 13. Unfortunately the connectors don't fit.

It does not look as though I can buy a replacement ceramic hot end. What other options do I have? Is there an adapter that can allow me to connect the Ubis 13 to the Plus? Ideally I'd like to buy a hot end, plug it in, and start printing.

The problem is that the Simple Pro uses a different controller board, hence the different connector. Your Printrbot Metal Plus uses a Printrboard Rev F; Printrboards Rev B, D, and F were all essentially plug-compatible and almost firmware compatible. What they called Printrboard Rev G was not at all a continuation of the line; it's an entirely different design, hence the incompatible plugs.

Ubis sells hot ends at this site: ; I'm pretty sure that the plugs will be compatible but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
