Simple Metal Z Rod Bearing Growl ?

Postby novice » 2018-Jan-Sat-10-Jan

Recently have a bearing growl on the lower 25 mm of Z axis. Replaced Z mtr., lead screw, lead screw block, and both bearing blocks with xtras on hand to no avail. 99.9% of all my printing is in the lower 70mm, so the question is can I take the cheap way out by pressing the Z rods out of the alloy block (if I can find a press) and press them back in inverted or is there something in the original mfg of the rod assembly that will prevent the rods from coming out of the block and leaving all components reusable?
